Badrinath Dham — The Abode of Lord Vishnu

Badrinath is one of the four sacred dhams of the Char Dham Yatra circuit and one of the 108 Divya Desams of Lord Vishnu. Situated at 3,133 metres above sea level in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, it is nestled between the Nar and Narayan mountain ranges with the Neelkanth Peak (6,596 m) as its majestic backdrop.

The Badrinath temple is open for just six months every year — typically May to November. Reaching Badrinath requires navigating 320 km of mountain roads from Dehradun, including high-altitude sections above Joshimath. A reliable, experienced driver is not optional — it is essential.

Badrinath Travel Tips from Local Drivers

Driver's Insider Tips
  • Start from Dehradun by 4 AM to reach Badrinath by late afternoon. The 320 km journey takes 10+ hours — leaving late means driving mountain roads after dark, which we strongly advise against.
  • The Joshimath to Badrinath stretch (30 km) passes through the highest altitude section of the route. Our drivers carry oxygen canisters and know the emergency stops — but inform us in advance if any passenger has a heart condition or breathing issues.
  • During peak Yatra season (May–June), the Char Dham highway has one-way traffic timings imposed by the government. Our drivers are updated on current timings so you don't get stuck waiting at checkpoints for hours.
  • Badrinath town has very limited parking. Your driver will park near the Mana road and wait while you complete darshan. Carry a warm jacket even in May — the temple town sits at 3,133 metres and evenings are extremely cold.
  • Mobile network gets patchy from Joshimath onward and can drop out entirely near Badrinath itself — let family know your rough schedule before you lose signal for a few hours.
  • This entire highway (NH7) is genuinely landslide-prone in monsoon, especially the Rudraprayag–Karnaprayag–Joshimath stretch. If you're travelling June–September, keep your itinerary flexible rather than tightly scheduled.

Yatra Registration is Mandatory
