Two routes, two very different tolls
Since the new Delhi–Dehradun Expressway opened in April 2026, there are effectively two answers to "how much is the toll from Delhi to Dehradun." The expressway is a 210 km access-controlled corridor that cuts the drive to about 2.5 hours, with roughly 5 FASTag plazas and a one-way car toll near ₹670–700. The older NH route via Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, and Roorkee is longer in time but has far lower tolls — about ₹210–230 for a car across just 2 plazas.
Which is "better" depends on what you value. The expressway saves hours; the old route saves toll money and passes through towns if you want to stop. SUVs and MUVs (Ertiga, Innova, and similar) pay a higher category rate than cars on both routes.
Named toll plazas on the expressway
Heading out from Delhi, the corridor passes Loni (right at the Delhi/Ghaziabad border), then Khekra, Baraut, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur, before reaching Ganeshpur — the start of the 12 km elevated wildlife corridor over Rajaji National Park. That elevated stretch has its own well-published toll, about ₹150 one-way for a car (₹225 for a same-day round trip). The route then ends at Asharodi toll plaza, on the southern approach into Dehradun. We haven't found reliable individual rupee splits for every plaza in between — the ₹670–700 one-way total above is what actually gets deducted across the roughly 5 FASTag plazas on the corridor.
One important 2026 change: cash is no longer accepted at these toll plazas. You need an active, funded FASTag — vehicles without one are charged double. If you book a cab instead of self-driving, the driver handles every toll for you, and you never touch a plaza.
A note on accuracy: toll rates in India are revised periodically (usually every April), and expressway rates can change as new sections and plaza rules settle in.
